The Center for Self-Determined Living for the Disabled in Erlangen is called: ZSL e.V.

We are looking for Assistants.
Assistants help people with disabilities in their everyday lives.
So that they can live self-determined and active lives.


What is important to us?

We are looking for employees:

  • that are reliable,

  • who are responsible,

  • who are open to other people,

  • who remain calm even in difficult situations.


What is personal assistance?

Assistance means:

  • People with disabilities help in everyday life.

  • Enable them to participate in life.

  • Enable you to lead a self-determined life.

The assistants also learn a lot in the process.
For example:

  • better understand what people with disabilities need,

  • to take responsibility,

  • Solving problems together.

Many assistants say:
The work makes sense and brings wonderful experiences.


How does an assistant work?

  • Mostly you support one person personally.

  • Trust is very important here.

  • Also important are:

    ✅ Openness
    Before you apply as an assistant, please consider:

    • Can you also Work long hours (up to 24 hours or more) and spend a lot of time with a person you don't know at the beginning?

School and inclusion support

Roles and qualifications in mentoring

In the School support (school/university) and in the Inclusion support (crèche/kindergarten) have different employees.

There are three groups:

  • Auxiliary staffwithout pedagogical training

  • Qualified assistants: with at least 2 years pedagogical training (e.g. childcare workers)

  • Specialists: with at least 3 years pedagogical training (e.g. educators)

School support enables young people with disabilities or chronic illnesses to learn together with others at school and supports their participation in everyday school life.
